What an NDIS audit costs

Published fee ranges for verification, certification and mid-term audits, why they disagree with each other, and how much to put aside each month.

The NDIS Commission charges nothing to register. You pay an approved quality auditor, and the Commission does not set audit prices.

The Commission charges no registration fee. You pay the auditor, and the Commission doesn't set audit prices, so ask more than one auditor for a quote.

That is the whole reason this page exists as a range rather than a price. "the price variance between auditors is unbelievable" is how one provider put it to the 2024 Registration Taskforce, and the published figures bear that out.

What the published figures say

These are fee ranges published by auditors and consultants, read on 25 October 2026. They are not the Commission's numbers, and they disagree with each other.

The Commission's own 2022 provider survey put the median fee at about A$935 for a verification audit and about A$3,003 for a certification audit. Those are medians from four years ago, and they sit well below today's published ranges.

What to put aside each month

Pick your audit type, say how many months there are until it, and add your own quote if you have one. The figures and the arithmetic are the same ones Readyfile's dates calculator uses against your certificate.

What providers say they paid

  • A quality audit, most often: A$3,000 to A$7,000
  • A verification audit: about A$1,500, from one provider's report
  • A two-stage certification audit: about A$7,000, from one provider's report
  • A first registration, all in: A$7,000 to A$10,000

Nothing you type here leaves your browser, and the figures are the same ones the dates calculator uses against your own certificate.

Why the numbers disagree

Three reasons, and all of them matter when you read a quote.

  1. Vendor figures are marketing. An auditor's published "from" price is their cheapest case. Ask what it assumes about your participant numbers and your sites.
  2. A survey median is not a quote. Half the providers surveyed paid more, and the survey is old.
  3. Your scope changes the price. The number of classes of support, the modules that apply, how many participants the auditor samples and whether a site visit is needed all move it.

What to do about it

Ask more than one auditor. The Commission publishes the list of approved quality auditors, and contacting a few is the only way to find out what your audit costs. Two large auditors left NDIS auditing in 2026, and vendors reported auditors booked out six to eight weeks ahead, so leave time.

Put money aside monthly. A mid-term audit three years into a registration is not a surprise: the date is on your certificate. Divide your own quote by the months until the date and set that aside. Readyfile's dates calculator does the arithmetic and shows the published range beside it.

Count it against what you already pay. A year of Readyfile Pro is A$290, which is about a third of the cheapest published verification audit fee. Spread over a three-year cycle, a verification audit itself costs roughly A$22 to A$50 a month.

What this page is not

It is not a quote, and it is not advice about your situation. Nobody can tell you what your audit will cost without seeing your scope. If a figure here is out of date, the fix is to ask an auditor, not to trust the page.
